-Do not display too many posts in your main page. Suggested the max number is 10 or fewer is better.
-Use Google/Blogger widgets, JavaScipt and links. If you use the third party ones, put them in the bottom of your sidebar.
-Use thumbnails for your images or decrease the size of your images.
-Use Picasa Web Albums from blogger post editor if you want use third party images.
-Any custom CSS additions to your blog, better if you put it at the top of the page.
